Over the next few months, in collaboration with Matt Cushman we are proposing to offer a series of modules on cleaning painted surfaces with particular reference to the use of gels.

This is a limited small group seminar which will consist of a 55 minute presentation by Matthew Cushman followed by 15 minutes of discussion and questions. This seminar will examine the material options and delivery methods available to the conservator for the cleaning of paintings and painted surfaces. By considering the advantages, compromises, and ideal use cases for each material, participants will gain an improved understanding of the current state of the cleaning toolkit.
