New Methods of Cleaning Wall Paintings using gels (theory and practice)

This 6 day workshop is in 2 parts. The first part, held at the University of Naples consists of 3 days of morning lectures on the theory of cleaning and the use of gels and afternoon practical sessions making up solutions and testing them in the studio. The second part will be a 3 day practical worksite held on the island of Ischia where participants will undertake supervised practical work on wallpaintings in an historic building, making use of the solutions/gels prepared in the studio during the previous 3 days, working out best practice and putting it to the test.
